Con el objetivo de contribuir al cuidado de las playas, ríos y océanos y en el marco de la celebración anual del “Día Mundial de Limpieza de Playas”, la empresa Khoury Industrial participó de la jornada de saneamiento de la Playa Saladillas de la provincia de Barahona. El equipo de voluntarios, conformados por colaboradores de la empresa, forma parte de los miles de ciudadanos que se unen anualmente en la Jornada limpieza de playas, costas y riberas de ríos, con el fin de higienizar más de 100 playas y 70 balnearios a nivel nacional. El Día Mundial de Limpieza de Playa fue instituido por The Ocean Conservancy en el año 1991, a partir de dos programas internacionales de gran auge a nivel mundial y en el marco de la Campaña Internacional de Limpieza de Costas. Para Khoury Industrial, los recursos naturales son fuente de vida y cada elemento es un eslabón importante en la cadena ecológica, por lo que en su actividad productiva, no extrae materiales de los ríos, recicla más del 40% del agua usada en el proceso de lavado de los materiales y reforesta las áreas minadas para de esta manera respetar nuestros recursos naturales, lo que le ha hecho merecedora de ser la primera y única empresa dominicana con balance positivo en la huella de carbono.

Con esta actividad se persigue elevar los niveles de conocimientos de la ciudadanía sobre la importancia de mantener libres de desperdicios las playas y ríos, que representan una fuente inagotable de riqueza, ya que proporcionan alimentos, insumos para medicamentos, son una vía de comunicación entre un continente y otro, al tiempo de servir de impulso a las actividades ecoturísticas.

Khoury Industrial es una empresa con un alto nivel de responsabilidad corporativa, siendo una de las marcas pionera en el concepto ecológico del mercado de la construcción, con más de dos décadas colaborando con el medio ambiente.
