Villa Central, Barahona. La Fundación Central Barahona (FCB), brazo social del Consorcio Azucarero Central (CAC), lamenta profundamente el fallecimiento del sacerdote Rigoberto Hurtado, quien por varios años fue el párroco de la Iglesia San Vicente de Paúl en el sector Pueblo Nuevo de esta provincia Barahona. Su muerte acaeció el pasado domingo 05 de junio en la ciudad de Armenia, Colombia.
En su tiempo de sacerdocio en la iglesia de este populoso sector, el padre Rigoberto inició una serie de acciones para mejorar la vida espiritual y familiar de sus feligreses, entre la que destaca la formación de la Escuela de Música San Vicente de Paul, en el año 2011, con el apoyo de la Fundación Central Barahona y que ha beneficiado a cientos de niños y jóvenes de Pueblo Nuevo y barrios cercanos.
Durante su vida sacerdotal el padre Rigoberto asumió múltiples responsabilidades ministeriales, estuvo como secretario general de la Obra: Propagación de la Fe en Obras Misionales Pontificias en Bogotá. Luego, con base en un convenio entre la Diócesis de Armenia, representada por monseñor Fray Fabio Duque Jaramillo y la Diócesis de Barahona, representada por su obispo Rafael Leónidas Felipe Núñez, vino a prestar sus servicios en la parroquia San Vicente de Paúl.
Por problemas de salud fue necesario su retorno a Quindío donde se internó en el Hogar del Bienestar del Anciano El Carmen.
Este domingo 5 de junio, Día de Pentecostés, partió al encuentro con el Señor, luego de permanecer internado por varios días en la clínica Central de Armenia.
