Consorcio Azucarero Central y Fundación Central Barahona combaten COVID-19 en región Enriquillo
Barahona.-Con el propósito de brindar protección al personal de servicio y ayudar a los pacientes contagiados con el Coronavirus en las provincias de Barahona, Bahoruco e Independencia, el Consorcio Azucarero Central, a través de su brazo social Fundación Central Barahona, hizo entrega de un importante donativo de insumos médicos al Hospital Jaime Sánchez, la Dirección Provincial de Salud, la Quinta Brigada de Infantería del Ejército de la República Dominicana y la Defensa Civil de Barahona, entidades que trabajan arduamente para mitigar el virus entre los habitantes de la región.
Karla Rojas, directora de la FCB y Julio Fernández, superintendente de Comunicaciones del CAC, dieron la bienvenida a los presentes y realizaron la entrega de 10,500 mascarillas N95 y quirúrgicas, 42,000 pares de guantes, 450 trajes protectores médicos desechables, 100 galones de gel desinfectante, 50 galones de cloro y dos camionetas con combustible incluido para transportar a los laboratoristas y así agilizar los diagnósticos de las pruebas, elemento clave de detección.
“Sabemos que son momentos complejos para nuestro país y una forma de enfrentar esta nueva realidad es con la ayuda que podamos brindar a instituciones como las que cada uno de ustedes representan. Es tiempo de aunar esfuerzos, sin partidos políticos, todos enfocados en la población. Exhortamos a que más empresas se unan y, como una gran familia, desarrollemos más acciones”, dijo Fernández al dirigirse a los presentes.
De su lado, la señora Rojas expresó: “Es el momento de ser solidarios y nos sentimos honrados de poder apoyarles. Juntos, podremos ser capaces de enfrentar esta crisis de salud.”
La directora Provincial de Salud, doctora Amelia Figuereo Féliz, junto a la señora Rosa Ariza Velázquez, directora Regional del Servicio Regional Enriquillo, expresaron su agradecimiento por el interés de la empresa en cooperar con la entrega de estos materiales médicos y vehículos, necesarios para brindar un óptimo servicio a la ciudadanía, cuidando a la vez del cuerpo médico cargo.
Por su parte, Wilson Castillo González, comandante de la V Brigada de Infantería del Ejército de la R.D. y Augusto Moreta, director Regional de la Defensa Civil, manifestaron su gratitud elogiando las medidas de ayuda que viene realizando la empresa en beneficio de sus comunidades, ante la difícil situación en que se encuentra el país, y el deseo manifestado de proteger a los integrantes de ambas instituciones para que puedan continuar apoyando de manera segura con el orden ciudadano.
La actividad fue desarrollada en el área del Country Club del consorcio, ubicado en Villa Central, y contó con la presencia del gobernador de la provincia, Sr. Carlos Manuel Florián, quien además preside el Comité Provincial de Prevención, Mitigación y Respuesta de Barahona (CPMR). De igual modo, el saliente alcalde de Barahona, Sr. Noel Suberví, el recién electo, Sr. Milton Fernández, así como otras personalidades de la región y algunos de los principales ejecutivos del CAC.
