Barahona.- En el marco de la segunda edición del Premio Provincial de la Juventud, celebrado el pasado 11 de febrero, la Obra Salesiana de Barahona, reconoció la labor de la Fundación Central por su alto compromiso social en favor del desarrollo sostenible en la provincia.

Con el propósito de promover e impulsar las buenas prácticas, reconociendo a aquellos jóvenes, organizaciones gubernamentales y no gubernamentales destacadas en diferentes áreas de servicio y en favor de la región sur, la actividad reconoció también, la trayectoria del fenecido sacerdote salesiano Luis Rosario Peña, quien dedicó su vida a trabajar por los jóvenes del país, por la educación, a través de valores humanos y espirituales.

Lourdes Peguero Alfonseca, directora ejecutiva de Fundación Central Barahona, recibió la distinción en representación de la organización de la mano del P. Erinel Quezada, director de la Obra Salesiana Barahona y Rafael Feliz, Ministro de la Juventud de la Republica Dominicana, junto a otras instituciones sociales destacadas en la provincia como:  Instituto Dermatológico y Cirugía de la Piel Unidad Suroeste, EDESUR, Dirección Regional, Cuerpo de Bomberos Barahona, Alcaldía Municipal de Barahona, Hogar Crea Dominicana, Universidad Católica Tecnológica de Barahona (UCATEBA); José del Castillo, Senador de la provincia de Barahona, Claribel Gomez, docente comprometido nivel primario en la Obra Salesianos Barahona, Ángel Samboy, docente comprometido nivel secundario, Alcibiades Sanchez, laico comprometido, Jonhson Carrasco, por su marcado compromiso en el Oratorio Centro Juvenil.

La licenciada Peguero agradeció este reconocimiento: “Nuestra entidad busca enaltecer el valor de las personas y las comunidades donde tenemos presencia a través de programas, proyectos e iniciativas sociales enmarcados en Educación, Deportes, Medio Ambiente, Desarrollo Económico Local, Arte y Cultura con trascendencia en las provincias de Barahona, Bahoruco e Independencia”.

La Fundación Central Barahona, es el brazo social del Consorcio Azucarero Central (CAC) surge en el 2002 con el propósito de apoyar a las comunidades vulnerables donde la entidad tiene presencia, en las provincias Barahona, Bahoruco e Independencia.
