La Empresa Generadora de Electricidad Haina (EGE Haina), atendiendo a las necesidades de las instituciones ubicadas en las zonas en donde opera, donó al cuerpo de bomberos de Barahona un moderno compresor que facilita el abastecimiento de aire puro de los equipos que utilizan para hacer frente a incendios de gran escala o situaciones en donde la atmósfera presenta poco oxígeno.
Adquirido e instalado por un costo de 40,000 dólares, dicho compresor favorece la efectividad de los servicios que ofrece esta institución de bien público, de manera especial, en la atención de emergencias y gestión de riesgos.
Se trata del tercer equipo de esta categoría disponible en el país y el primero puesto al servicio de la región sur. Esto se traduce en un considerable ahorro de costos y tiempo, y en una mayor eficiencia del trabajo realizado por los bomberos, quienes recorrían grandes distancias para el abastecimiento de aire comprimido respirable.
Durante la entrega, Ginny Taulé, directora de Comunicaciones, Responsabilidad Social y Sostenibilidad de EGE Haina, manifestó que este tipo de iniciativas reafirman el compromiso de la empresa con el fortalecimiento de los organismos de socorro, en especial con los cuerpos de bomberos. “En EGE Haina consideramos prioritario contribuir al equipamiento adecuado y buen funcionamiento de esta institución, orientada a preservar vidas, atender emergencias y gestionar riesgos”, declaró.
Para el coronel Wander Guerrero, intendente general del cuerpo de bomberos de Barahona, este compresor garantiza a toda la zona sur del país un servicio acorde a los lineamientos de seguridad establecidos por los organismos internacionales. “El contar hoy con este equipo nos permitirá ofrecer una ayuda eficiente y oportuna a la ciudadanía. Para nosotros es un privilegio contar con el respaldo de empresas como EGE Haina, que ha sido un aliado constante para nuestra institución”, expresó Guerrero durante sus palabras de agradecimiento por la donación.
Esta acción forma parte del Programa de Responsabilidad Social de la empresa, que contempla iniciativas de apoyo a los organismos de socorro, entre ellas: la construcción y adecuación de estaciones de bomberos, capacitaciones y la donación de materiales, equipos y mobiliarios para el desarrollo de sus funciones. En la comunidad de Quisqueya, San Pedro de Macorís, EGE Haina concluyó a mediados de 2019 la construcción y equipamiento de una moderna estación de bomberos, y recientemente fue entregada la nueva estación de bomberos del municipio Guayacanes, de la citada ciudad; ampliada y remodelada por la empresa junto a otras instituciones del sector privado.
El acto de entrega contó con la presencia de autoridades locales, de los intendentes de los cuerpos de bomberos de la zona sur, de representantes de la sociedad civil y de medios de comunicación.
