CEMEX reduce emisiones de CO2 y reafirma compromiso medioambiental con su línea Vertua Concreto

Vertua es una novedosa línea de concreto cuya producción es baja en carbono que permite la mitigación de emisiones de CO2. Esto se logra gracias al diseño de la mezcla que reduce la huella de carbono del concreto de CEMEX.   

Santo Domingo.- CEMEX pone a disposición de sus clientes constructores e industriales Vertua, la primera línea de concretos en República Dominicana que reduce sus emisiones de CO2.

La empresa continúa desarrollando iniciativas firmes en su compromiso con el medio ambiente, por lo que ofrece al país la solución Vertua Classic, un concreto que reduce entre un 30% y 50% de emisiones dióxido de carbono (CO2) en su producción, en comparación con el concreto estándar. Esta innovación comparte con el sector de la construcción la posibilidad de utilizar un material de alta calidad y eficiencia con el menor impacto medioambiental.

“Siendo el concreto el segundo material más utilizado en el mundo, hemos establecido la prioridad como empresa de ofrecer productos que disminuyan su huella ambiental y que permitan construir un mejor futuro con base en materiales duraderos y respetuosos con el medio ambiente”, afirmó José Antonio Cabrera, director General CEMEX Dominicana, Puerto Rico y Haití.

Asimismo, Cabrera dijo que “añadir a nuestra cartera de productos, un concreto que reduce las emisiones de CO2, es un hito histórico en términos de sostenibilidad para el sector construcción y una manifestación de nuestro compromiso de poner la innovación al servicio del medio ambiente”.

Este paso se produce cumpliendo los compromisos de CEMEX a nivel global para actuar frente al cambio climático. A principios del año 2021, CEMEX anunció su estrategia de Acción Climática, en la que definió su objetivo global para reducir emisiones específicas netas de CO2 por tonelada de productos cementantes en 35% para el 2025. Para 2030 se ha establecido una nueva meta más agresiva, con una reducción de aproximadamente 40% en emisiones de CO2. 

En adición, se convierte en la primera compañía del sector en fijar el objetivo de reducir al menos en 55% las emisiones de CO2 de sus operaciones en Europa para el año 2030. Para complementar esta estrategia con una visión de más largo plazo, CEMEX también estableció una ambiciosa meta para ofrecer concreto con cero emisiones netas de CO2 a nivel mundial para 2050.
