Usará drones para entregar medicamentos

San José; Costa Rica._La Caja Costarricense del Seguro Social (CCSS) informó  que utilizará drones para entregar medicamentos en los pueblos indígenas de difícil acceso en el este del país.

El coordinador nacional de Servicios Farmacéuticos de la CCSS, Esteban Vega, dijo en un comunicado que la Contraloría General de la República autorizó la contratación directa de servicios de mensajería mediante vehículos aéreos no tripulados pilotados a distancia, conocidos como drones.

La CCSS, que administra los servicios púbicos de salud, calcula que al mes entregarán un promedio 13.200 paquetes de medicamentos a los pacientes de ocho puestos de salud de zonas indígenas ubicadas en Talamanca, Valle Las Rosas y Valle La Estrella, todas en la provincia de Limón.

Un médico que visita los pueblos elaborará las recetas médicas y las enviará digitalmente a una farmacia de la CCSS, donde se conforman los paquetes de medicamentos.

Posteriormente, los paquetes son trasladados en el dron hacia los pueblos indígenas, viaje dirigido mediante GPS y que se calcula durará unos 30 minutos.

Un funcionario de la CCSS será el responsable de hacer la entrega de los medicamentos al paciente.

El dron funciona mediante un sistema tecnológico desarrollado por la empresa Zipline y el servicio tendrá un costo mensual para la CCSS de 26.000 dólares.
