Indotel continúa trabajando para detener la reventa ilegal de internet en el país

Santo Domingo. – El Instituto Dominicano de las Telecomunicaciones (INDOTEL) reiteró su compromiso en atender la problemática de la provisión ilícita del servicio de Acceso a Internet, que comúnmente se ha extendido como “reventa ilegal”.

Señaló que como parte de las potestades de supervisión y fiscalización que le atribuye el Artículo 78 de la Ley General de Telecomunicaciones, núm.153-98, el órgano regulador está desarrollando un Plan Estratégico para abordar de forma integral las distintas aristas identificadas dentro de la problemática originada por los servicios provistos por los denominados “wiferos” o “wisp” ilegales.

Subrayó que la reventa ilegal no solamente implica el incumplimiento al régimen de autorizaciones vigente para la prestación de servicios públicos de telecomunicaciones, sino que también afecta directamente los derechos de los usuarios al comprometer los estándares de calidad que reconoce la normativa.

Apuntó a que los usuarios de los revendedores o proveedores no autorizados encontraban mayor exposición a riesgos de seguridad de redes y por la forma de prestación del servicio se ven mermados los mecanismos de reclamación que el ordenamiento legal dispone en favor de los usuarios.

En tal sentido, se destacó que, al mes de marzo del presente, esta gestión había autorizado la inscripción en Registro Especial para la reventa de servicios de Acceso a Internet de 76 empresas solicitantes y formalizado la clausura de 31 revendedores ilegales identificados en el territorio nacional, en las provincias de Sánchez Ramírez, San Cristóbal, María Trinidad Sánchez, La Altagracia, Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata, La Vega, El Seibo, Valverde y Espaillat.

El Indotel reitera su postura de perseguir y sancionar la prestación ilícita de los servicios de telecomunicaciones y manifestó su apertura en promover la provisión del servicio de conformidad con el régimen legal.
