Con el objetivo de evitar accidentes ocasionados por el uso incorrecto de las chichiguas en el país, la Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica Dominicana (ETED) reactiva su campaña “Vuela en un lugar seguro”, que busca crear conciencia en las familias dominicanas sobre los peligros de elevar las chichiguas cerca del tendido eléctrico.
El administrador general de la ETED, ingeniero Martín Robles Morillo explicó que la cantidad de colas de chichiguas que quedan enredadas en los cables de alta tensión, genera un alto costo para el sector eléctrico y para la empresa ya que se triplican los mantenimientos y el número de brigadas destinadas a retirar las mismas del tendido, para tratar de evitar interrupciones en el suministro eléctrico.
“Las interrupciones de electricidad que provocan las chichiguas representan pérdidas millonarias para ETED y el país, sólo durante el tiempo en que anualmente los niños practican este pasatiempo, miles de chichiguas son recogidas cada año en la época en que se desarrolla esta actividad”, precisó Robles Morillo.
Enfatizó que “volar chichiguas puede hacerse libremente, siempre y cuando sea en campo abierto, pero, cerca de torres, postes o cableados de energía, puede poner en riesgo la vida de cualquiera”.
El ingeniero informó que el alto voltaje que pasa por las líneas de transmisión es muy peligroso para cualquier persona, por lo que cuando una chichigua se enreda en los cables de energía y la persona trata de recuperarla, puede accidentarse recibiendo descargas eléctricas que producen graves quemaduras y hasta la muerte.
En ese sentido, la ETED desarrolla un programa de charlas educativas en los barrios y sectores donde es más común esta práctica a fin de concientizar a niños y adultos. Además, cápsulas informativas y educativas que se comparten por los distintos canales de comunicación de la entidad.
Dentro del marco de la campaña, las brigadas de la ETED se desplazan por los sectores del Gran Santo Domingo para llevar a cabo jornadas de limpieza y retiro de chichiguas de los cables del tendido eléctrico.
Se recuerda que volar chichiguas es una costumbre que predomina en la cultura dominicana y en otros países, principalmente en primavera, cuando los vientos son más favorables para esta práctica.
La ETED aprovechó para hacer un llamado de alerta a la población sobre las consecuencias, tanto para las personas como para las infraestructuras eléctricas, de volar chichiguas de forma irresponsable, al tiempo que solicitó la colaboración de cada ciudadano con estas acciones para el bienestar social.
La ETED reiteró su compromiso de mantener en óptimas condiciones las infraestructuras de transmisión en el país y seguir brindando un servicio de calidad en el Sistema Eléctrico Nacional.
