Empresa Axon presenta equipos tecnológicos serían vitales en reforma policial dominicana

En momentos que la sociedad dominicana exige la implementación de una eficiente reforma policial, la empresa Axon presentó la noche de este lunes algunas herramientas tecnológicas vitales para salvaguardar la vida de los ciudadanos y agentes de la Policía Nacional, así como el respeto a los Derechos Humanos.

El abogado Pedro Manuel Casals, portavoz de la empresa Axon, manifestó que ante la desprotección que sienten los ciudadanos y los agentes policiales ante determinadas situaciones, el uso de los taser y la cámara corporal Axon mejorarán la conducta de ambos.

“Tenemos una policía donde cada ciudadano y agente se siente desprotegido, ahora podrán tener una cámara que registrará con acción de un agente, pero también cada conducta que presenten los ciudadanos”, dijo.

“Esto no será controlado por un agente, sino por un organismo especial que tendrá la dirección de toda la información que se maneja. Si el agente o el ciudadano se portan mal será registrado. Es lo que faltaba porque esto garantiza transparencia, conducta, vigilancia, supervisión, y lo tendremos ahora a un precio asequible que es importante”, expresó Pedro Casals.

Es importante señalar que la actual gestión de Gobierno del presidente Luis Abinader, ha estado impulsando una reforma policial que por años venía siendo demandada por la sociedad dominicana, y en ese sentido, este tipo de herramientas con amplia trayectoria en el mercado internacional vendría a dar un soporte a las intenciones del mandatario en beneficio de la institucionalidad y ciudadanía.

De su lado, Rodrigo Cruz, representante de Axon para la región del Caribe, destacó la importancia del uso de los taser y las cámaras corporales por parte de los agentes policiales al momento de presentarse ante cualquier eventualidad.

“El taser de hoy en día es muy distinto al de hace 20 años. Tiene una seguridad médica comprobada, con más de 2 millones de usos a nivel mundial. Recientemente el último entrenamiento en la ciudad de Panamá le disparamos a 5,800 unidades policiales, personas con todo tipo de salud, entre hipertensos, diabéticos, etc. Es un producto extremadamente sano que ha apoyado el accionar policial, es un producto para salvar vidas”, expresó Cruz.

Agregó que cuando el agente policial utiliza la cámara en el pecho, el ciudadano se comporta extraordinariamente y el policía se convierte en una unidad de accionar profesional.

“Cada que vez que los ciudadanos ven una cámara en el pecho del policía y saben que está siendo grabado se comportan extraordinariamente y la balanza funciona también para el otro lado. Mientras que cuando la unidad policial sabe que todo lo que está haciendo es grabado, se convierte en una unidad profesional”, indicó el representante de Axon para la región del Caribe.

Mientras, Alex Polit, director regional para Latinoamérica de Axon, aseguró que otro de los aspectos importantes del uso de taser y cámaras corporales por parte de los agentes policiales, es la transparencia y agilidad con la que empiezan actuar.

“Hoy en día la ciudadanía exige un agente policial más rápido, mejor, más profesional y transparente. La policía debe modernizarse y la tecnología juega un papel importante en esto. El uso de taser y cámaras corporales Axon se han vuelto útiles e importantes en temas de violencia de género, uso de fuerza y la transparencia policial”, dijo Polit.

Asimismo, Rodrigo Farach, presidente de Tactical DR, ponderó los esfuerzos del presidente Luis Abinader para dotar al país de una necesaria reforma policial y de como el taser y la cámara corporal de la empresa Axon juegan un papel primordial en la misma.

“Lo que tenemos hoy no es solo una voluntad política, es el mismo comandante y jefe las Fuerzas Armadas y la Policía Nacional personalmente comprometido con esta reforma policial, cueste lo que cueste”, puntualizó Farach.

“Estamos aquí para presentarles dos tecnologías que apoyan directamente este proceso. Una que genera transparencia absoluta en la acción policial, protegiendo al oficial y al ciudadano, y la segunda que es un dispositivo disuasivo y preventivo que sirve de aliado de los oficiales del orden”, afirmó el presidente de Tactical DR. La exposición y de mostración de los productos de la empresa Axon se estará desarrollando durante el martes en el Salón Bistrol, 5to piso JW Marriott en Blue Mall, desde las 9:00 A.M. hasta las 7:00 P.M.
