Les quiero contar una breve historia de un presidente actual que estaba imposibilitado para aspirar nuevamente al poder por la tozudez del principal líder opositor. Ese líder opositor y sus principales seguidores hablan de persecuciones, corrupción, cárcel, etc. contra el presidente actual y sus principales funcionarios. El mismo líder opositor es un tipo supermegaarchireconocido y super famoso que en todas las encuestas estaba mucho a poco y que era imposible de vencer. El presidente gobernante le encarga a un politico desconocido por la gran mayoria de los dominicano para enfrentarse al gran líder opositor como si se tratara de si mismo. Nadie creía que ese desconocido podía ganarle a ese inmenso líder opositor….. pero resulta que el presidente estratega le levantó las manos al desconocido en el Palacio de los Deportes a pocos días de las elecciones. ¿Cuál fue el resultado de la contienda? Ganó el desconocido y perdió el invencible líder opositor.

Si usted, querido lector, cree que esta breve historia contada por mi hace referencia a la contienda del pasado 5 de octubre de 2019, le digo que está equivocado. El presidente en ejercicio que describo no es Danilo Medina, el líder opositor al que hago alusión no es Leonel Fernández y el desconocido que insinúo no es Gonzalo Castillo. ¡YO LES HABLO DE LA CONTIENDA ELECTORAL DEL 30 DE JUNIO DE 1996! Cuando hablo del “presidente actual” me refiero a Joaquín Balaguer, cuando me digo “líder opositor” descrito es José Francisco Peña Gómez y el “político desconocido” es Leonel Fernández.

Caramba, tantas coincidencias coincidenciales tiene la política dominicana. La única diferencia de fondo de ambos procesos es que ese gran líder Peña Gómez tuvo la hidalguía de reconocer su derrota con humildad, Leonel Fernández no. Esto es Leonel o que entre el mar.
