Desde el año 1994 la Asociación de Cronistas de Arte de Barahona (ACROARBA) viene reconociendo el talento, el arte, la cultura y la labor comunicacional, así como el trabajo profesional y comercial desarrollado en la provincia Barahona.
Hasta el año 2011 la premiación era denominada con el nombre de Enriquillo de Oro, pero a partir del año 2013 pasó a nombrarse como Premios de Oro.
En la reciente entrega de este magno evento los renglones reconocidos fueron: Empresa del Año, Emisora del Año, Maestría de Ceremonia del Año, Periodista del Año, Medio Digital del Año, Programa Televisivo Local y Comentarista del Año del 2017.
En esta entrega recibió la presea de Premios de Oro como, Comentarista del Año, el destacado comunicador y jurista Antonio Garabito Ramírez.
Los miembros de la Asociación de Cronistas de Arte de Barahona (ACROARBA) reconocieron el talento y trabajo comunicacional, pero sobretodo el aporte a la comunicación que viene realizando el joven, pero destacado y solido comunicador, al momento de emitir sus comentarios cada mañana en el programa Impacto Mañanero, que se produce de lunes a viernes por la emisora Maravillosa FM.
Con sus acostumbrados comentarios el avezado comunicador enriquece el conocimiento de los radioescuchas, quien analiza el presente y futuro de la región y el país con temas económicos, políticos, sociales, culturales, legales, medioambientales y hasta de corte internacional.
Anterior a esta premiación Garabito había sido nominado en tres ocasiones por los miembros de la Asociación de Cronistas de Arte de Barahona (ACROARBA).
Antonio Francisco Garabito Ramírez ingreso en los medios de comunicación en el año 2013 de la mano del experimentado comunicador, doctor Lino Gómez Pérez, a quien le profesa gratitud por abrirle un espacio en el programa Acción Mañanera que se produce por la emisora Palma FM.
El destacado comunicador es fundador del programa Expresión Popular, así como del proyecto comunicacional Impacto Mañanero, que se produce de lunes a viernes por la emisora Maravillosa FM.
El prestigioso abogado también ha sido invitado en diversas ocasiones a programas tanto radial como televisivo de difusión local, así como de espectro nacional.
Garabito Ramírez es egresado de la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo en el año 1999 de la carrera licenciado en Derecho. En la búsqueda de profundizar en el conocimiento a continuado su preparación académica alcanzando los grados de especialista en Procedimiento Civil, Máster en Derecho Civil y Diplomado en Derecho Procesal Constitucional.
El catedrático formó parte del Staff Docente de la Universidad Católica Tecnológica de Barahona (UCATEBA) y miembro importante del colegio de abogado de la República Dominicana del cual formó parte como Juez del Tribunal Disciplinario.
En su ejercicio profesional ha estado mayormente enfocado en la defensa del Medio Ambiente y los Recursos Naturales de la región sur enfrentando grandes emporios empresariales en los tribunales y en los medios de comunicación, además de una larga trayectoria de lucha en favor de la protección de la flora y la fauna de la Laguna Rincón en Cabral, que tanta vida ofrece a los moradores de esa comunidad.
Como promotor cultural colabora de manera permanente con el Carnaval y las Cachuas de Cabral, tradición que ha sentido y vivido desde niño la cual le ha permitido mantenerse involucrado al más alto nivel de la festividad llegando a ser nombrado como presidente del comité organizador en diferentes ocasiones, así como también ser parte del jurado examinador del desfile Carnavalesco.
Desde muy joven demostró su interés por el ámbito social donde destaca su participación en grupos como Frente Unido, Sociedad Ecológica, Defensa Civil y Participación Ciudadana. También jugó un papel preponderante como dirigente en la defensa de los estudiantes, tanto en el bachillerato como en la universidad, escenario donde formo parte importante en representación de la Asociación de Estudiantes Universitarios de Cabral (ASODEUCA).
Antonio Garabito Ramírez recibió el premio en la vigésima séptima entrega de Premios de Oro efectuado en el auditórium Don Antonio Méndez del Centro Universitario Regional de la UASD en Barahona.
